Brignolles, Var); BS Garsende de Sabran ou de Forcalquier -- les cansos d'EliasBarj datent de l'epoque de son veuvage; 350 Bruckner {Handbook}: mariée 1193 to Alphonse II count of Provence, widowed 1209-08, took vows 1225 at Abbaye de La Celle; daughter of Garsenda and grand-daughter of Guilhem IV, last particular count of Forcalquier (Bruckner used an art, by Stronski 1907 in RLR 50:5-44 for biographical info)); "Garsenda" was the object of love in vidas of Elias de Barjols and Gui de Cavaillon {PC 206}; Jeanroy 34 I:369, following CC Biogr 350, names Garsenda as daughter of Guilhem IV, married 1192, widowed 1207, took vows 1222; CC Biogr 350 "un couplet adressée vraisemblablement à Gui de Cavaillon"; Bruckner p209 mentions that her anonymous interlocutor is identified as Gui de Cavaillon by a ms. rubric, probably as a result of Gui's vida; Bogin 1976:170 wife of Alphonse II of Provence, whose brother was Pedro II of Aragon; "there is good reason to believe she was a poet" -- her poem appears anonymously in one MS, in the other it is attributed to "la contessa de Proessa"; [by her grandfather] married off in 1193; could not have been born after 1168; her political life as regent of Provence began 1209, lasted until 1217 or 1220 when her son Raimon Berengar IV assumed power; possibly documented in 1257, act of donation to the church of St Jean d'Aix, at which time she would have been in her eighties; BEdT Nomi: Table: Garsenda di Sabran, moglie di Alfonso II, conte di provenza, madre di Raimondo Berengario V; Perkal-B 1986:10, the comtessa de Proensa composed her coblas probably near the turn of the century (XII-XIII); BEdT 1999/07/27 generazione 4= 1190-1235; DBT 200 s.v. Garsenda de Sabran (...1181-1228), historical details; 1225 Benedictine convent La Celle (dep. di Saint-Victor, Marseille), died 1228; her poem {187,1} = (1200-1210 il dialogo in versi con Gui de Cavaillon = ComtProv~GuiCav), appears anonymously in one MS, in the other it is attributed to "la contessa de Proessa";
